Relaxing Garden Terrace
Scandinavia meets the Mediterranean on a refined garden terrace
The brief
Our client approached us with a vision to transform their neglected elevated garden into a sophisticated, inviting terrace. They wanted a space that would offer a perfect retreat for relaxation, blending comfort with style. We aimed to create an outdoor haven where they could unwind, enjoy meals, and entertain guests seamlessly. The idea was to design a setting ideal for al fresco dining and social gatherings, providing a functional yet refined space that truly shines on warm summer days. With attention to detail, we planned an area where friends and family could gather, making every moment memorable against a beautifully revitalised backdrop.
Our solution
Our project began with thoroughly clearing the garden area, removing old decking, overgrown bushes, deteriorated brickwork, stubborn roots, and outdated fencing. This blank slate allowed us to imagine a vibrant and functional outdoor space that seamlessly blends relaxation with style. Once levelled, we opted for Scandinavian-inspired horizontal-slatted fencing, adding a modern aesthetic and enhancing privacy. Granite tiles in a brick bond pattern were chosen for the flooring, providing a sleek, polished look that complemented the overall design. To further enhance the privacy of the space while keeping maintenance to a minimum, we installed custom artificial topiary hedges.
For convenience and ambience, we integrated Wi-Fi-controlled lighting, which can be adjusted via a smartphone app, adding an element of smart technology for easy, customisable lighting. The terrace was furnished with new wooden garden furniture that we personalised with bespoke cushions and re-upholstered sofa sections, creating a comfortable, stylish seating area perfect for outdoor gatherings.
As the transformation unfolded, the neglected garden space turned into a sun-drenched contemporary terrace. The client was delighted with their new outdoor haven, where they can unwind, entertain, and enjoy meals in the open sky. This reimagined garden terrace has quickly become a favourite spot, inviting them to savour every moment outdoors. Pimms, ice, and a slice, anyone?
