Luxury Interior Designers in the West Midlands
Home Is Woven From Life's Smallest, Warmest Moments.
Chapter Seven Design is a luxury interior design studio founded in 2015 by Andy and Joe Smith. We are interior designers West Midlands homeowners come to for full-home renovations, new builds and considered partial projects, from the first conversation to the final styling. The studio is based in the East Midlands and works across Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire, the Cotswolds and the surrounding areas. We are registered with the SBID.
Interiors Shaped Around the Way You Live
Not refreshed. Not redecorated. Transformed, where walls move, layouts change, and the home you end up with barely resembles the one you started with.
We are a husband and wife studio. We started working together in 2015, a year after our son was born, when we both wanted work we cared about and a life that fitted around him. From the first conversation to the final detail, you work with the two of us in your own home, and the people who design your project are the people who see it through.
A transformation like that takes more than a good eye. Before Andy designed homes, he spent over twenty years as a building services coordinator on major commercial projects, including the New Street Station redevelopment and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, drafting and 3D modelling how a building’s hidden systems would be coordinated, manufactured and installed without clashing. He brings that same precision to a house: structure and services first, then the design. Most studios start with the look. We start with the building, so the problems that cost time and money show up on the drawings, not halfway through the build when the walls are open and the money is committed.
Andy leads the design and the technical read. Joe leads everything around it: the budget, the timeline, the suppliers, the hundred decisions a week, and the relationship with you. She is the reason the months of your project feel handled rather than chaotic.
Founded in 2015. Founder-Led ever since.
A Decade of Full Residential Renovations, Every One of Them Led Personally by the Two of Us. the Studio Is Supported by a Long-Established Network of Trades, Contractors and Specialist Suppliers We Know and Trust, but the Design, the Decisions and the Relationship Rest With the Founders Throughout. Every Part of the Home, Designed Together
Spatial planning. Joinery. Lighting. Finishes. Furnishings. Final styling. We take a single brief through to a completed home, coordinating every trade and specialist along the way.
It’s work that depends on understanding the building as much as the design. Knowing how a home is put together, what its structure will allow, and which decisions need to be made early. That grounding is what lets us design a home where every part holds together, and where the people living in it feel looked after at every stage.
A home is a place you live in every day. Every decision we make is shaped by that.
Spatial Planning
How the rooms connect and how the house flows.
Interior Architecture
What the structure allows, resolved on the drawings first.
Bespoke Joinery
Designed for the room, made by makers we know.
Furnishings and Styling
Sourced, commissioned and made to the brief.
Lighting and Finishes
Specified together so every surface holds together.
Project Coordination
Procurement, site liaison, installation and handover.
We also take on smaller projects, where the brief is more focused and the scope sits within a single part of the home.
How We Work
Five Stages, in Order. Each One Is Finished Before the Next Begins.
01
Brief and Concept

02
Detailed Design
Layouts, elevations, joinery, lighting and specifications, resolved in full.
03
Procurement
Quotations reviewed, suppliers coordinated, approvals and budget tracked.
04
Coordination and Styling
Site liaison through installation to the final piece in place.
05
Handover
A final review, the information you need, and a home ready to be lived in.

What Our Clients Say
“Design expertise that reimagines the way a home can live.”
Andy and Joe were incredibly patient, guiding us through the entire design process with no fuss, thoughtful, and focused on providing a solution. We had already drafted initial plans for our open-plan kitchen-diner, but Andy helped us completely reimagine the space. He proposed a new layout that we simply hadn’t considered and the transformation was beyond anything we expected. The end result is beautifully resolved, with a level of detail and design finesse that has completely elevated our home.
— Mr Perks
“They’ve created a room that feels luxurious without ever being showy, and every detail feels considered.”
From the moment Andy and Joe from Chapter Seven arrived, it felt like they just got us. They took the time to listen, not just to what we wanted for our home, but to who we are as people, and that made all the difference. Their approach was calm, thoughtful, and deeply collaborative.
— Mr and Mrs MacTaggart
Questions We Are Often Asked
-
Everything from the first brief to the final styling. We plan the spaces, resolve the structure and services on the drawings, design the joinery, lighting and finishes, source the furnishings, and coordinate every trade through to handover. You deal with the two of us throughout.
-
No. Full-home renovations and new builds are most of our work, but we also take on focused projects where the scope sits within one part of the home, such as a kitchen, a master suite or a living room.
-
We are based in Hinckley, in the East Midlands, and work principally across the West Midlands: Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Edgbaston, Harborne, Knowle, Lapworth and Kenilworth, as well as Warwickshire, Rutland, Newtown Linford and the Cotswolds. Selected projects further afield are taken by arrangement.
-
We start with the building, not the look. Andy spent over twenty years coordinating the hidden systems of major commercial buildings before moving into interiors, so structure and services are resolved on paper before any finish is chosen. It is how the expensive problems are found early.
-
With a conversation. Tell us about your home and what is not working, and we will arrange a consultation. There is no obligation at that stage.
