The brief

This growing family came to us looking to expand and elevate the heart of their Arts and Crafts home in the Warwickshire countryside. Their existing kitchen felt dated and confined, and they needed a layout supporting everyday family life while feeling sophisticated enough for entertaining.

Their vision was to create a larger, open-plan kitchen and dining space that blended seamlessly with the original period architecture. They were drawn to soft, natural colours, tactile textures, and a calm, refined atmosphere that would enhance how they lived and hosted at home.

Our solution

We proposed a rear extension to enlarge the kitchen footprint and create a connected, multi-functional dining area to achieve the space and flexibility they needed. This allowed us to completely reconfigure the ground floor layout and design a modern space that was true to the home’s heritage.

At the heart of the scheme is a striking balance between rich walnut cabinetry and pale marble worktops—a tactile, tonal combination that delivers warmth without compromising on light. The flooring was key in grounding the space: a chevron oak parquet floor adds texture, depth, and timeless character throughout.

Above the island and dining zones, copper feature lighting introduces a sculptural glow, creating atmosphere and highlighting key areas of the space. For the new dining area, we sourced a generous dining table and contemporary chairs and added two bespoke leather banquettes in a soft green tone, designed to offer relaxed, family-friendly seating with a touch of tailored elegance.

To reinforce the connection between the interior and garden, we used a mix of dual-aspect windows, a large sky lantern, and full-height metal-framed doors. These architectural details flood the room with natural light and invite the outdoors in, helping the soft, natural palette feel fresh and grounded in its surroundings.

The final space is calm, characterful and deeply practical, designed to gather, cook, entertain, and unwind.
