Interior Design FAQs
Interior Design FAQs:
What To Know Before You Enquire.
If you are considering working with an interior design studio, these interior design FAQ's cover some of the questions clients often ask before making an enquiry.
Projects, Budgets & Timelines.
What kind of projects do you take on?
We work on a range of residential interior design projects, from individual rooms to full-home interior design, renovations and large-scale refurbishments. Our work is always approached with the same level of care, detail and consideration, whatever the scope.
Do you have a minimum project budget?
Project budgets vary depending on the scale, scope and level of detail involved. We are always happy to have an initial conversation to understand your plans and advise whether the project is the right fit for our studio and the level of service required.
How long does an interior design project usually take?
Every project is different, so timescales vary depending on the size of the property, the level of design development required, and the complexity of procurement or site works. At the outset, we provide a clear roadmap so you understand the likely timescales from design development through to completion.
Can you work to an established budget?
Yes. Budget is an important part of the conversation from the outset. We work closely with clients to understand the level of investment available and shape the design approach accordingly, helping to ensure the scheme is both considered and achievable.
How do you help clients stay on track with budget?
We guide clients through key decisions with budget in mind from the beginning, helping to balance aesthetic ambition with practical considerations. Throughout the project, we keep selections, specifications and priorities under review so everything remains aligned.
Do you charge VAT?
Yes, VAT is applied to our services at the current rate. We are always happy to explain this clearly when preparing a fee proposal, so you understand the investment involved from the outset.
The Design Process.
How does the process begin?
Our process usually begins with an initial conversation, followed by a consultation to understand your property, your brief and how you would like your home to feel and function. From there, we can advise on the most appropriate interior design service and next steps.
How involved do I need to be in the project?
We tailor our approach to suit each client. Some like to be closely involved in key decisions, while others prefer us to manage more of the detail. In either case, we keep the process well guided, well organised and easy to navigate throughout.
Can I request changes once the design is underway?
Yes. Design is an evolving process, and changes can be discussed as the project develops. Where additional work is required, we will explain this clearly and confirm any associated costs before moving forward.
Do you work with architects, contractors and other specialists?
Yes. We regularly collaborate with architects, contractors and trusted specialists to ensure each project is considered as a whole and carried through with care, clarity and attention to detail.
Do you offer virtual interior design?
Yes. Our virtual interior design service is ideal for clients who would like professional design guidance delivered remotely. It offers a more flexible option while still benefiting from our considered design approach.
Working Together.
Do you only work in the Midlands?
While we are based in the Midlands, we work across the East Midlands, West Midlands and surrounding regions, and are always happy to discuss projects further afield depending on the scope and nature of the brief.
Can you work with our existing architect or contractor?
Yes. We are very comfortable joining an established project team and working alongside your architect, contractor or other consultants where needed. A collaborative approach often leads to a more joined-up and well-resolved result.
Will you manage communication during the project?
Yes. We keep communication clear and consistent throughout the project, helping to coordinate decisions, maintain momentum and ensure the process feels well managed from one stage to the next.
What will you need from us during the project?
We usually need timely feedback, approvals at key stages, and access to the property where relevant. We guide you through this clearly, so expectations feel straightforward and manageable throughout the project.
Do you handle planning applications or statutory approvals?
Where approvals are required, we can work alongside your architect or planning consultant as part of the wider team. We do not usually submit statutory applications directly.
After Completion.
Do you offer support once the project is finished?
Yes. Depending on the project, we can continue to support you after completion, whether that involves final styling, finishing touches or post-occupancy input where needed.
Do you consider sustainability in your work?
Where appropriate, we make considered choices around materials, longevity and sourcing. For us, responsible design begins with creating homes that are thoughtfully planned, well made and intended to stand the test of time.
