The Designer Who Reads the Building First
Warwickshire is full of homes worth getting right. Period and listed properties in the older towns, substantial family houses across the villages, and new builds with the kind of proportions that reward proper design thinking. What most of them have in common is that the interesting decisions are structural before they are decorative.
That is where we start. Andy trained in architectural technology and spent over twenty years on the technical side of major buildings before moving to residential interiors. He reads load bearing walls, service routes and structural consequence the way most designers read a colour palette. On a substantial Warwickshire renovation, that is the difference between a designer who styles the rooms you have and a design partner who tells you which rooms you could have.
We do not decorate around a building's constraints. We resolve them first, then design.
Chapter Seven Design is Andy and Joe Smith. Joe runs the part of a project that decides whether the experience is bearable: the timeline, the suppliers, the hundreds of decisions a renovation throws up, held so the months of getting there feel manageable. The two people you speak to first are the two who see it through.
We work across Warwickshire on full home renovations and on focused projects within a single part of the home. That includes dedicated design for several towns and villages in the county:
